The Interceptor II is a little jewel: small and light weight is perfect for those thick sounds of the original Steinbergers of those years.
The sound is rich, present and deep, with an eccellent sustain, even with the reduced mass of the body.
Great playability is a key carachteristic, along with the 24 frets and advanced tremolo system features.
This second version of the Interceptor (IC II) further enhanced the bridge design, improving the performance even in comparison with the original Stein.
Actually, I think that it is not all this guitar can offer: this is THE option for other two cases:
- light weigth solution for on-stage trippers and/or backached veterans
- travel guitar
Here is a side by side with my own design guitar, the AT-1, I built in 2009 for travelling purposes, and brought it anywhere.
The AT-1 is a really great sounding guitar, such that I had at least a couple of requests to build a copy (which I couldn't satisfy).
It also includes an embedded electronic circuit I designed that allows to select 4 overdriven sounds, 2 Fenderish and 2 Marshallish, at different and very light levels of distortion, which also allow to directly connect the guitar to a PA......but this is another story.
