This website is a tribute to the guitars of the 1970s and 1980s, with a special focus on the Made in Japan (MIJ) instruments produced by the legendary Matsumoku factory.
Over the years, I have owned many of these guitars and have consistently been impressed by their exceptional craftsmanship and quality, regardless of the model.
These pages collect photos and videos of instruments I currently own or have owned in the past, with the goal of sharing useful details and references for fellow Matsumoku collectors and enthusiasts. When I first began collecting, I would have greatly appreciated having this kind of information available for each individual model, and I hope you will find it equally enjoyable and valuable.
As you will notice, my main focus is on Aria Pro II guitars.
This may well be one of the largest collections dedicated to this brand.
Among all the brands produced by Matsumoku, I believe Aria stands out for its outstanding balance of quality, value, and design.
Although many models were inspired by the iconic guitar shapes of the era (particularly between 1975 and 1987 for electric guitars), every Aria instrument retains a strong and distinctive identity, never feeling like a mere copy or just another piece of wood.
In the Link page you can find some useful references to Matsumoku history and guitar models.
Please note that my collection includes many more instruments and I'm adding them often to the web site.
Check the site regularly for new entries!
This site is based on the free service offered by Google, which is limited in terms of available space and operation.
If you would like to have a real open and durable site during the time, with high resolution pictures, more instruments shown and reviewed, more details on each item, scans from old pertinent books and video sound tests, please feel free to donate with paypal. That will be used exclusively to keep this site alive, evolving and improving. Thanks for your support.
