This '77 STAGECASTER is a great quality Strato, well surpassing both copies or Fender originals in terms of sound and manufacture.
It is unknown what the "J" of the ST700J stands for: usually, for similar japanese brands and models of those years,
the "J" letter recalls Jeff Beck.
Anyway, I'm guessing it is a model conceived for the Japan market only, not for export.
The sound is powerful yet clear, thanks to the high-end Aria Pro pickups, model SP-III.
The Shaller tuners of those years (lately I discovered they are original) still report the "Made in W. Germany" label
and are the best tuning machine ever.
The woods quality and (nitro) finish are just outstanding.
The fretboard is a wonderful Jacaranda and the inlays are pearloid, rare features for any strat.
